PokerStars VIP Program ? Yearly VIP Statuses

Posted by pokerwriter on May 22, 2010 at 8:27 PM

I previously talked about the VIP program that you are enrolled in when you use your PokerStars bonus code. I explained that when you first make the download and use the PokerStars bonus code, start as a BronzeStar member, but it’s possible to go as high as PlatinumStar status every month for the best rewards. To go one step further and really reward those that play huge amounts, however, they came up with Supernova and Supernova Elite. You’ll earn these statuses yearly rather than monthly, which means they’ll require a much higher commitment than PlatinumStar.

We’ll learn about Supernova first since it’s the easier of the two to earn. If you go ahead and provide a PokerStars bonus code and then find the cashier in the lobby, you have the ability to look at the number of VPP points you’ve earned and the VPPs you have to earn to achieve Supernova. At the start of this year it would have read that in order to become a Supernova, you must earn 100k VPP by the end of December 2010. When you pass the 100k VPP mark, Supernova status is yours until the start of March 2011. If you want to keep Supernova further into the year, you need to receive a minimum of 7.5k VPPs every month. To help you out, PokerStars allows you to miss the 7.5k VPP mark for one month. You will want to be on a pace higher than 7.5k/month, though, because if you don’t have 100k VPPs by October, you will revert back to a monthly status. At this point, you’ll just need to get back to 100k for the year again.

Enough about VPPs – let’s go over your benefits now. The first thing you’ll notice is that your FPP multiplier increases to 3.5 which will really help you save up for that fancy iPod you want. And now you can spend your points on special Supernova items in the VIP store. Now remember that quarterly million tournament that I told you about in the last entry? As a Supernova, you get a free ticket into all these events! At this VIP status, you also receive Milestone Cash Credits. These bonuses are purchased with FPPs, and you don’t need to worry about poker bonus clearing like with a regular PokerStars bonus. Just pay the required FPPs and the bonus amount will  be credited to your account right away, no clearing required. As a Supernova, you get to earn up to $29.8k in Milestone Credits in one year.

If you’re impressed by Supernova, be prepared to be absolutely astounded by Supernova Elite, a status that asks for a jaw-dropping 1 million VPPs. This is a very tough task for most players because a lot of poker hands are required to earn a million VPPs. You’ll soon see that the work is worth it, however. The FPP multiplier you receive will increase to 5, and as usual there are special Supernova Elite items in the VIP store. You now also have access to $100k in Supernova Elite Milestone Cash Credits. Many people find the MTT poker opportunities that Elite players receive the most exciting benefit, however. To start off, PokerStars offers a free entry to the Main Event of the WCOOP, a huge tournament series hosted every year. The site then gives you a list of events that includes EPT Monte Carlo, WSOP Main Event, APPT Sydney, and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. You can choose to take one package plus $10,000 in cash, or for a better value, you can take two event packages instead.

You can see that PokerStars has worked hard to make it truly rewarding to play on their site. What most players don’t know is that depending on which Milestone Cash Credits you earn, it’s possible to achieve massive PokerStars rakeback by becoming Supernova Elite. Getting over 50% in rakeback is almost like being paid to play on their site! This is truly great for poker players. If you’re not already playing at PokerStars, what are you waiting for?
